When Jealousy Makes You Murder

When I originally heard about the murders of Jennifer Hudson's family members, I hoped that it wasn't domestic violence related. I hoped, as if it made it any better, that it was a robbery--some stranger off the street, or drug-related crime. I hoped that the accused's mother was correct--that her son could not/would not do such a thing.

William Balfour has apparently confessed to acting out of "jealousy" on a previous threat to harm if Julian's mother were to be with another man....or something like that. My mind is cloudy right now.

12:07 pm. I'm updating this post with this paragraph:

I really can't believe he did this shit. I mean, jealousy? As a motive? Who the fuck gives you the right to think you have ownership over anyone? And terrorize them with threats to kill their family? And then you do the dirtiest, most fucked-upest thing--kill someone's whole family and leave your target person alive...to suffer. You fucking-sick-fuck-asshole. And "sick" is not what I'm using to describe you, because that enables you to escape the blame---by considering that something was wrong with you. Your actions are fucking sick. How the hell do you spend like, the previous day with the mom, Julia, on her birthday, and then the next, you kill of her goddamn family?

Answer: Male Privilege. Male Entitlement. Male Supremacy.
****

These murders occurred at the end of October, but I'm going to go ahead and add them to my Holiday RIP section as this kind of set the tone, unfortunately.

Peace be with you, Darnell, Jason, and Julian.
